I came across the Sevai of Taste It Food during the Thyagaraja festival at Ranjani Hall in Nanganallur, where they had their temporary stall. The sevai had been so tasty, a filling yet light tiffin for dinner. It is healthy and easily digestible. That’s what makes it a preferred food for the surgical patients, and the diabetics. It is made of Parboiled rice and so contains vitamin B. The flavors available are Lemon, tamarind, tomato and coconut. They are available in packets of 200 gms each priced at Rs 18/-. You can also buy plain sevai and add your own flavor, or better eat it with a side dish like kurma or coconut milk.

As I visited their place to order for my daughter’s birthday party, I got to know more about them. I was surprised at the homely atmosphere they maintain. The place was spic and span, and the men working were fresh and clean. I could tell they were hygienic and the only smell there was that of the flavours being mixed to the sevai. Then I found that there was more to it. They make kozhukattai, both sweet and salt, adai batter, idli/dosa batter, and pulikatchal. All these are freshly made and dispensed immediately. So if you want to order a large quantity, you have a place an order at least a day in advance. They also home deliver reasonably sized orders at an extra cost of Rs 20/-.

They take party orders, corporate orders, and also supply to hospitals. They have a dispensing stall at West Mambalam, Station road, where they sell the sevai and kozhukattais after 5 p.m., for those who can pick up on the way home from office.
