Fitness Fun

Fitness is a common topic nowadays. People are very conscious about how they look. But the main reason behind the efforts taken to "look good" is to keep healthy. As the saying goes, Health may bring Wealth, but Wealth cannot bring health". Though, I quite disagree with this statement. Of course, irreversible damage to health condition may not bring back health. But medical technology is far ahead in terms of diagnosing and rectifying various health conditions.
In today's world of technology, people get their jobs done right from their seats. So, it has become imperative to introduce deliberate attempts to do some kind of physical activity. And this has given rise to a new market. What with various kinds of fitness routines, activities, gym, and the never ending list, we tend to go hay ware and finally land nowhere. And then comes the diet part of the well-being. The crash diets, no-oil diets, diets for diabetics..., so goes another list.
As I plunged into the ocean of the fitness topic, I found myself drowning. Somehow, I came to my senses as I sorted out the various workout routines and diet plans. So here I am presenting what made sense to me (may be nonsense to someone else, of course).

Cabbage soup diet plan

HOME REMEDIES FOR LOSING WEIGHT

Increase the quantity of fruits and vegetables and low calorie foods.
Avoid intake of too much salt as it may be a factor for increasing body weight.
Milk products like cheese, butter etc. and non-vegetarian foods should be avoided as they are rich in fat.
Mint is very beneficial in losing weight. A chutney of green mint with some simple spices can be taken with meals. Mint tea also helps.
Spices like dry ginger, cinnamon, black pepper etc. are good for loosing weight and can be used in a number of ways.
Regular intake of carrot juice.
Avoid rice and potato, which contain a lot of carbohydrates. Among cereals wheat is good.
Vegetables like bitter gourd (Karela), and bitter variety of drumstick are useful in loosing weight.
Honey is an excellent home remedy for obesity. It mobilizes the extra deposited fat in the body allowing it to be utilized as energy for normal functions.
Dosage: One should start with small quantity of about 10 grams or a tablespoon, taken with hot water early in the morning. A teaspoonful of fresh lemon juice may also be added.
Fasting on honey and lime- juice is highly beneficial in the treatment of obesity without the loss of energy and appetite. For this, mix one teaspoon of fresh honey with the juice of half a lime in a glass of lukewarm water.
Dosage: Take several times a day at regular intervals.
Raw or cooked cabbage inhibits the conversion of sugar and other carbohydrates into fat. Hence, it is of great value in weight redu ction.
Exercise is an important part of any weight reduction plan. It helps to use up calories stored in body as fat.
Walking is the best exercise to begin with and may be followed by running, swimming or rowing.

Cabbage Soup Diet Plan

When the talk is about weight reducing diets, there are innumerable kinds of diet plans that commit fabulous results. Out of the many diet plans, there is cabbage soup diet plan that gives you flexibility to decide your meals. This plan requires you to follow the 7-day cabbage soup diet sincerely. The best part about the cabbage soup diet plan is that it gives you a complete freedom to eat as much as you like, along with your cabbage soup. But one negative thing about it is that, it doesn't provide adequate amounts of complex carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins and minerals, thus leading to body weakness and also your concentration ability tends to get decreased.

Here are presented the food guidelines, as per the cabbage soup diet plan:

  • Day 1: any fruit except banana in any amount.
  • Day 2: vegetables including a baked potato in any amount
  • Day 3: fruits and vegetables except potato.
  • Day 4: maximum of eight bananas along with skimmed milk.
  • Day 5: six tomatoes along with a maximum of 20 ounces of beef, chicken or fish.
  • Day 6: unlimited beef, chicken or fish
  • Day 7: brown rice, vegetables and unsweetened fruit juice.

7 Day Diet Plan

Day 1: All Fruits and Juices, Eat as much as you can , but avoid BANANAS
Did you know : Day 1 helps you to get rid of your 0.5kg. to 1kg. of your weight.

Day 2: Vegetables & Vegetables Soup. Vegetables may be boiled or can be taken raw with little salt & pepper.
Did you know :Raw food include all the nutritive contents that is needed by the human body.

Day 3: You can have Fruits , Vegetables & Vegetable Soups.
Did you Know : Fruits & Fruit juices help our body to get rid of maximum toxins that are formed in our body itself.

Day 4: 8 Bananas & 4 glasses of milk. It is likely that you may not be able to consume all the bananas.

Did you Know : Bananas are the only fruits which contain readily available glucose required for our body.

Day 5: Have 4 red tomatoes & sprouts.
Did you know :Sprouts are full of proteins. Tomatoes help in supplying the calcium content.

Day 6: 1 Big Boiled Potato with a pat of butter & Soup made up of Sprouts.
Did you Know : The best form of potatoes to be consumed are BOILED POTATOES. Never try the Fried version of it.

Day 7: Baked or Boiled Vegetables and Red Polished Rice .
Did you Know :SUGAR adds to your weight .

Drink lots of water throughout. Tea or coffee may taken but without sugar.

Work out videos

Workouts are great if you do it with others. However, due to lack of time many people prefer to do it at home. But their motivation levels gradually come down due to boredom and monotony. When I was on the lookout for good workout videos for me to do at home (with kids at home, I could not go to the gym), I found so many videos on the YouTube that I was flabbergasted. But as I surveyed them, I found most had some common features. So I compiled a set and followed the routine daily. As I did them at home, I found that the trainers are careful to mention the difficulty levels for beginners and for those who have proceeded to advance workouts. And I could also progress to the advanced levels as I did them routinely. One thing worth mentioning here is that the workouts are mainly to increase heart rate and those for the abdomen muscles. However, fitness experts recommend weight training also as a part of the fitness routine.

Here is a list of videos that I compiled from the numerous ones available on the YouTube. These videos, if done in this order, will provide a full body workout. It would take about 45 minutes to an hour to do them.

Recommendations:
  1. Beginners must start at their own level, preferably after consulting a physician.
  2. The workout must be done wearing a pair of good shoes only.
  3. Take plenty of water before, during and after workout. For more on this click here.
  4. It is better to do workout after at least 2 hours of taking a meal.
  5. Take some kind of food after 30 minutes and before 90 minutes of the workout.
  6. It is better to take a weekly break from the exercises.
